The Enterprise Business Information Services (EBIS) Division maintains stewardship over the ever-evolving Business IT portfolio of applications and systems required to support the Laboratory's business processes.
EBIS handles the full systems lifecycle across all major business processes, provides technical services and support, and strategically partners with the Lab's business community. Key initiatives include a business intelligence program, data analytics, and agile methodologies and tools.

Our Project and Institutional Finance Information Services Section is looking for technical talent to do just that. This opportunity seeks an Enterprise Application Software Engineer. Some of the major projects that our Section is working on this year is continuing to improve on our integration of applications with Workday HCM & Payroll, implementing a new Earned Value Management system, working with the Finance Division to simplify JPLs Burden Structure along with evaluating and preparing for the replacement of our On-Premise Oracle E-Business Suite.
This is perfect position for someone who is interested in supporting a variety of apps and business processes. Responsibilities will include providing business design solutions and support for third party vendor software and JPL custom applications. This includes participation in the software selection process, implementation and development support. This individual will be an accountable team member providing support to our Oracle Financials and Project Costing applications as well as other custom business applications and processes that we have built.
Responsibilities
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
Design, code and develop critical applications and software interface solutions that will be delivered into the Enterprise systems environment
Ensure compliance with all IT information (including PII data) security practices and policies
Maintain development skill sets via continuous education and learning
Partner with team members and business communities to gain an understanding of JPLs Finance, Contract Management and Program & Project Business Management processes
Elicit and capture business requirements including fit/gap analysis using various requirement models
Develop user stories, test scripts, test plans and test scenarios
Conduct feasibility studies for software and system products under consideration for purchase and provide findings and considerations
Assess impacts of system changes and ensure effective delivery of application functionality and integration
Modify, setup, and/or configure business applications
Partner with others to craft, develop, interface and test business software applications
Facilitate the maintenance, support, and upgrade of existing systems; coordinate and communicate software upgrades, improvements and changes with others impacted
Evaluate technologies and recommend solutions for improvements
Provide direction and mentoring to others within the organization
Qualifications
Requires a Bachelors degree and 9 years of related experience; a Masters degree and 7 years of related experience; or a PhD and 5 years of related experience. The ideal candidate will possess the following experience/skill set:
RequiredSkills:
Must have 6+ years experience with Oracle eBusiness Suite Financials and/or Oracle Project Costing
Ability to collaborate with staff and management at all levels
Ability to gather and translate customer business requirements into system requirements
Inventive, self-motivated individual with excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
Technical writing and presentation skills
Knowledge and experience with UNIX/LINUX
Knowledge and experience developing web services
Desired Skills:
Experience with Git/GitHub use and integration
Experience with JIRA or similar issue-tracking systems
Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment in multiple roles
Although the below are desired skills, they are skills that would be a plus to have and allow us to assign you to other custom application support should you have some of these skills:
Knowledge of Cloud deployment (ex.
AWS)
Experience with Elasticsearch
Experience with containerization
Experience with NetBeans
Experience with backend programming languages such as Java, Python etc.
Experience with frontend frameworks such as React, Angular, Java
Script etc.
Experience with HTML5, CSS3, Bootstrap etc.
Knowledge of continuous integration, continuous delivery (CI/CD)
