Sr. Software Egineer

POSITION

SUMMARY: Acts as a resource for the Director of Application Design & Development to facilitate the design and implementation of software and systems. Modifies, develops, writes and implements software applications and operating systems. Has expertise in a variety of programming disciplines, practices and procedures. Also provides technical guidance and support for programming staff. Conducts system analysis and development to keep systems current with changing technologies. The position requires skills for building relationships with internal clients and programming staff. The position also requires analytical skills for investigation and reporting, as well as leadership skills for development of programs that support the highest levels of internal service and client satisfaction.
ESSENTIAL

POSITION

FUNCTIONS: Design and develop programming systems, making specific determinations regarding system design and performance. Respond promptly and professionally to production problems for supported systems and applications. Conduct system analysis and development, with limited support from professional staff, to keep our systems current with changing technologies. Analyze, design, coordinate and supervise the development of software systems to form a basis for the solution of information processing problems. Analyze system specifications and translates system requirements to task specifications for programming staff. Responsible for analysis of current programs and applications including performance diagnosis and troubleshooting of problem programs, as well as designing solutions to problematic programming issues. Write, edits, and debug new programs for assigned projects, including necessary records and desired output. Test new programs to ensure that logic and syntax are correct, and that program results are accurate. Assist programmers with assigned tasks. Document code consistently throughout the development process by listing a description of the program, special instructions, and any changes made in database tables on procedural, modular and database level. Responsible for utilizing tools and equipment involved in performance of essential functions of programming, including measuring instruments. Ability to maintain positive internal and external client interactions. Research and recommend software tools to management. Provide assistance to testers and support personnel as needed to determine system problems. Review, to the extent possible, changes in code and the environment that will affect system performance. Provide recommendations to management concerning issues of programmer productivity and software development management.

Attends regular staff meetings, prepares brief correspondence and reports, verbally communicates technical information, makes presentations to groups outside immediate work area, develops and documents procedures, follows up and researches questions and needed information, interacts with managers and senior management from different credit union clients on a regular basis. Interacts with networking and server support staff.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's Degree and five to seven years of experience in software development environment. Equivalent experience level may offset educational requirement.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to solve problems quickly and completely.
A solid understanding of networking/distributed computing environment concepts including emerging Service Oriented Architecture. Solid understanding the principles of routing, client/server programming. Possess excellent communication skills, with an emphasis on verbal and written communication. Ability to multi-task and stay organized in a dynamic work environment. Participate in development of long range planning for new projects and applications. Experience and ability to teach or instruct co-workers. Providing advice, training and technical support for various projects. Working closely with management team in evaluating current systems and making decisions on future development processes. As new technologies emerge and impact our systems, expected to learn these technologies very quickly and resolve any problems involved in integrating new technologies with our systems. Expert knowledge of computer languages, data structures, computer logic, flow-charting, and program design methods. Ability to learn new programming languages quickly. Good knowledge of mathematical and statistical principles and formulas. Ability to work productively in a team. Expert knowledge of writing program documentation, standard development tools and networking technology Ability to determine whether a particular problem is caused by hardware, operating systems software, application programs, or network failures. Good knowledge of data security and encryption. Demonstrated ability to use standard computing tools: Word processor, spreadsheet, browser, email, and file compression software.
FULL STACK DEVELOPMENT: Development of existing and new applications and WebServices leveraging .net & c# using Microsoft WCF, REST, and other web service interfaces. Development of existing and new responsive designed applications leveraging AngularJS, JQuerty, and other front stack development tools and debuggers. Development of existing and new SQL databases schema, stored procedures, and queries leveraging Microsoft SQL Server. Work with and contribute to other platforms; including iOS, Android, web services, database, and IT operations.
MOBILE DEVELOPMENT: Development of existing and new applications that leverage Apple's iOS SDK. Development of existing and new applications that leverage Google Andriod SDK. Code using latest guidelines from Apple as well as updated language definitions for objective-c and SWIFT. Code using latest guidelines from Google as well as updated language definitions for java. Work with and contribute to other platforms; including iOS, Android, web services, database, and IT operations. Research and implement new technologies within the mobile space, including SIRI, widgets, Apple Watch, and other features of the IOS and Android platforms.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to work on complex mathematical equations.
