Job Description

Fidelity's Defined Benefit (DB) platform development team is seeking a Software Engineer to participate in discretionary projects as well as infrastructure upgrades like cloud migration. The team supports the recordkeeping and administration of Defined Benefit (also known as pension) plans on behalf of Fidelity's corporate clients, their employees and retirees.

The Team

WI DB Platform team manage applications that supports Defined Benefit (also known as pension) plans on behalf of Fidelity's corporate clients, their employees and retirees. Platform team contains agile squads working on Discretionary projects, Infrastructure and platform modernization projects (eg: Sybase to SQL Server database migration, public cloud migration), application maintenance and production incident support.

This position's responsibilities include object-oriented software design and development in Java-based applications that manage client pension plans. This role also requires analyzing existing system capabilities, identifying any gaps or discrepancies, providing scope estimates, establishing system design, testing, and debugging. This group is looking for a highly motivated, software engineer to join its dynamic, globally distributed team of IT professionals responsible for the design and development of Fidelity's DB Platform Applications at its North Carolina site.

The Expertise You Have

  • BS or above in Computer Science or related field
  • 3+ years web development experience with working knowledge of Java/Spring
  • Knowledge of client-side MVC frameworks and/or experience with one or more popular JavaScript toolkits (jQuery, Angular.js) are a plus
  • Experience creating, building, and deploying applications in a DevOps environment leveraging CI/CD tools; experience with Git/Bitbucket Server (Stash), Jenkins, and uDeploy.
  • Exposure to Agile development methodology.
  • Java certification is a plus
  • Knowledge of C++ programming language is a plus
  • Cloud Knowledge (AWS/Azure Docker with Kubernetes) is a plus
