Full-time Shift: Day Job Requisition Number: 202001152 As the Manager, Software Engineering, you will be responsible for designing, developing and implementing programs as required, to support the technical capabilities at Cox Automotive. This includes both the development of new programs and maintaining existing programs. In the role of Manager Software Engineering, you will be expected to deliver timely responses to production issues, taking ownership and effectively seeing these issues through resolution. To be successful in the role of Software Engineer you must be able to work effectively in a fluid, fast-paced environment while maintaining good communication with management and team members.
The Manager, Software Engineering will work within the Sales and Service teams within our IT organization. We seek a well-rounded individual who is willing to assume management-level responsibilities, be able to work with limited supervision, manage/mentor scrum teams including Software Engineers and Software Testers to ensure the overall successful delivery of solutions for F&I Express.
Candidates for this role should possess extensive knowledge of modern architecture and technologies including Cloud Native design, Micro-serices/API, PHP, MySQL, NoSQL, Aurora, AWS, RabbitMQ, Redis, Java, .NET core, NodeJS, Angular, React or similar languages. To be successful in this role, candidates should have worked with API and microservices development in a cloud architecture. Candidates should be organized, consultative, collaborative and strategic. The ideal candidate will have a strong background providing scalable process and technical solutions in a B2B environment, and have experience managing small teams.
This resource will be tasked with managing one or more scrum teams for the F&I Express business unit within Cox Automotive. He or she will work closely with Software Engineers and Software Testers as part of agile Delivery Teams to assure complete understanding of assigned features and creation and delivery of subsequent user stories. The ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment while proactively promoting IT configuration standards, business transparency, consistency of execution and an empirical approach to resolutions is integral to success in this role.

Responsibilities

Mentor other Software Engineers by providing best practice, and hands on guidance on their work. By helping to dynamically prioritize the workload effectively, promoting consistent process and documentation, and ensuring the department IT standards are being followed to better support business strategy.
Consult with business and IT partners on their backlogs to strategize, prioritize, plan and implement needed projects, enhancements and support requests within designated time and budget constraints.
Coordinate with matrixed technical teams and group managers throughout the development lifecycle to ensure requirements are delivered to specification and in a timely manner.
Research, document and promote optimal technical solutions and processes which will improve technical velocity, reduce go live operations debt and ensure application(s) scale.
Guide, optimize and manage the implementation of enhancements for the Business systems functions in a consistent, best practice manner to ensure continuity of service delivery throughout your assigned business applications portfolio(s).
Proactively uncover opportunities for process optimization and application simplification, by which these opportunities can be implemented across the business systems function and IT departments.
Exhibit flexibility, collaboration, and transparency in handling multiple competing tasks in a fast-paced IT environment.
Responsible for multiple business stakeholders and their associated work portfolios (projects, enhancements, and support).
Support and coordinate deployment of releases through an increasingly complex set of environments that serve multiple stakeholders across multiple business units and segments
Help coach, mentor and support direct reports to grow in their career at Cox Automotive

Qualifications

Education:

BS/BA in related field and 7+ years related experience with minimum 1 year experience in management or lead role; or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience

Required skills &

Experience

Experience as a Functional team lead on major implementations, including experience facilitating analysis, and design working sessions with business representatives.
Experience as a full stack developer is a must
Hands on AWS architecture,
Experience with PHP and MySQL is extremely important
Ability to work in a cross-functional, matrix team environment within the Retail Solutions group as well as other groups within the IT organization.
Experience mentoring and/or leading other platform engineers
Deep knowledge of API development best practices and standards
Familiarity with agile delivery processes, artifacts, ceremonies and tools including Rally or Jira
Working experience in Cloud-based projects in the past 3 years

Preferred skills &

Experience

Experience consolidating org and maturing process to improve delivery effectiveness, reduce costs and achieve scale
Familiarity with SAFe/Enterprise Delivery including Delivery Streams, Release Trains and Delivery Teams
Platform support processes, particularly tier 3, and support tools including ServiceNow
Experience as an HR/people manager (i.e., direct reports).
Ability to identify and rationalize the implementation of process improvements collaboratively with other IT/business functions.
Ability to rationalize, plan, estimate and schedule multiple tasks or stories and develop detailed resource and project plans
Solid problem-solving skills and strong thought process.
