Job Description

Within this team we enjoy a unique opportunity to leverage our technical skills by working with investment professionals to build new investment products, develop investment decision making applications and tools, and deliver improved financial outcomes for people. The incumbent will manage our Managed Application Vertical, a shared services team responsible for developing and maintaining custom application solutions, by working closely with business leaders across the firm.

The successful candidate will have an established background with strong technical ability, excellent project management skills, great communication skills and a drive to please customers. The role combines managerial responsibilities with in-depth hands-on technical expertise.

Your Essential.

Responsibilities


  • Partner with internal business leaders from across the firm to understand requirements, prioritize work and implement solutions-own the backlog
  • Lead the development team to design and deliver maintainable, testable and reusable production quality code in a corporate financial environment using Agile development practices
  • Lead by example by being a player-coach and write code to move the backlog along
  • Manage, coach, and mentor team members
  • Build a team culture of growth, impact and trust
  • Instill best practices for software development and documentation.
  • Chair stakeholder meetings
  • Prepare technical requirements and software design specifications
  • Provide technical leadership to business units advising when new technologies may facilitate their strategic objectives
  • Define and track key performance metrics for your team
  • Report on health and status of the applications in your application inventory

Your Expertise:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or related field required. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of management experience required.
  • 5 years experience as a software developer required.
  • 2 years financial services experience, CF
    A charter or CFA Investment Foundations certificate, or relevant degree preferred.
  • High proficiency with full stack development skills including UI, web, middle-tier, and database required.
  • Experience with .Net 2+, .Net Core, C#, SQL, SSIS, SSRS, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Service Oriented Architecture, MVC, and Web APIs required. Angular 2+ and ReactJS preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience interfacing with clients and vendors, creation of project schedules and project status reporting
  • Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies required.
  • Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery required.
  • SQL database schema design experience preferred.
  • Proven ability to stay current with emerging technologies as well as with new applications of existing technologies through work experience, academics, or self-study required.
  • Experience in Test Driven Development concepts, methods and tools required
  • Experience with automating standard IT functions like builds and deployments required
  • Experience with source control models and processes required.
  • Experience with following tools preferred: Jira, git, Octopus, TeamCity
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient verbal and written skills to effectively communicate in the English language
