Graduate Assistant User Experience (UX) Research

Teaching and Learning with Technology (TLT) is seeking a highly motivated graduate student to assist with User Experience (UX) research and development of applied data science applications for higher education. The Data Empowered Learning team within TLT has created several unique user interfaces that leverage data science to expose end-users to new insights and workflows. We are looking for a Research Assistant to help with the UX design and development of the prototypes and assist with studies that evaluate their potential use cases in higher education. Responsibilities associated with UX design and development include, but are not limited to:
* Creating mockups of potential workflows
* Documenting personas and scenarios of use
* Assisting with the front-end development of the application
Additional responsibilities associated with design-based research may include:
* Conducting literature reviews
* Completing/revising IRBs for research projects
* Assisting with design of data collection tools
* Collecting and entering data
* Monitoring and analyzing results from user surveys
* Conducting user observations and interviews
Familiarity with web design technologies and javascript libraries such as Angular, Vue, SASS, CSS, HTML, etc are a plus. The desired candidate should be a flexible thinker who is willing and able to learn new approaches to answering novel research questions. The student should be able to quickly learn and leverage emerging technology and tools. This position requires someone who can work both independently and on teams and who has outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
