What You Will Be Doing
As the Engineering Director, you'll serve as a technical leader that champions best practices and strategies in order to develop software so it is secure and compliant.
Develop software so it is secure and compliant (handling patients' data).
Develop, enhance, and maintain policies and procedures to ensure compliance under HIPAA, SOC2 and other applicable information privacy and security laws, regulations, and standards.
Lead new compliance initiatives across the company, including research, planning, and implementation.
Manage and perform initial and periodic risk assessments, mitigations and remediations, and present teams with assessment results along with tactical and strategic recommendations to ensure ongoing compliance.
Research and provide ongoing advice and guidance about compliance laws, regulations, and standards.
Review features we introduce, quality, prioritize (updating new features), and ensure the team hits deadlines.
Hire and scale-out the security and compliance team.
This person will be part of the engineering leadership team driving department strategy and growth together with the other leaders.
Manage several teams of local and offshore developers.
Set up and own development processes that will provide rapid delivery of new features.
As part of the engineering team leadership group, provide input and drive improvements in the team structure, processes, software architecture.
What You Need for this Position
+ years of experience in a leadership role in an engineering organization (preferably with experience managing teams of 20
+ software engineers)
Proven experience in the biotech/healthcare/clinical diagnostics space.
Software security and compliance background.
3-5 years of experience overseeing compliance with HIPAA and other privacy and security regulations.
Deep knowledge of HIPAA and other relevant laws, regulations, and standards.
Practical experience with scaling large engineering organizations.
Ability to set and drive the big picture strategy.
Ability to recruit, inspire and motivate an engineering team to work together as a cohesive and productive unit.
Ability to lead large projects and deliver on time and within budget.
Experience working with third-party partners and managing constraints and challenges.
Practical experience with developing software using at least one of the following: Java, Python, Scala, Ruby-on-Rails, React, AngularJS.
