API Systems Engineer

Operate and maintain a global API Gateway (Azure API Manager
Support monitoring and troubleshooting of core API platform infrastructure components and software tools
Work directly with Ford product teams to perform API gateway analysis and configuration changes in multiple development environments
Design and implement APIs policies at the gateway to support product team requirements
Use insights and evidence from data to resolve incident and problem tickets involving cloud native microservices
Collect, analyze and report key API metrics to provide visibility into the Ford s API ecosystem and portfolio
Support the operation, monitoring and configuration of edge routing solutions
Communicate changes and incidents effectively to all product teams using the API platform
This position requires the availability for 24/7 support based on an on-call schedule and 40 hours per week


Experience working with API gateways
Intermediate knowledge of networking and IP routing
Experience with REST API methods and implementation of web services in a distributed architecture system (i.e.
PCF on Azure)
Knowledge of API security models (Oauth2, basic auth, etc.)
Communications skills - ability to engage in deep technical discussions with customer and peers and become a trusted technical advisor
Aptitude to learn new technologies and processes
Experience in troubleshoot application and performance issues
Critical thinking, decision-making and leadership aptitudes
Agile mindset


Experience with REST Web Services developed using Spring or JavaEE Framework
DevOps methodologies and culture in addition to experience with various CI/CD tool
Experience working with project management software such Pivotal Tracker, Jira, or Rally
Strong analytical and good inter-personal skills. Good organizational and problem solving abilities
Good knowledge of software development methodologies, tools, standards and procedures for high quality software development
Software Engineering experience in some of core languages / platforms (Java, Kotlin, JavaScript, Angular, Spring Boot)
Prior Experience with PCF


B.S. Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience in the requested field
